American Horror Story Season 6 Finale: It’s Finally Over!!!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

American Horror Story has a tradition with its last episodes. Every season there is an entire episode dedicated to an epilogue, where we ‘wrap up’ so to speak, and find out how the story ultimately ends. After the way the last episode ended, it should be pretty easy. Lee gets arrested, found guilty of multiple counts of murder that are well documented on tape. Tie a little bow on it, send it off, and we’re done.

Right?

RIGHT?!

American Horror Story: Season 6; Episode 9: The Semi-Finale

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Those of you still playing AHS Bingo,  then you get a blackout this episode, as we begin with horror trope # 12579: fanatic re-enactors with selfie sticks in the woods. They’re following the path of “My Roanoke Nightmare” and they were just oh-so-excited to retrace the show’s steps during the blood moon. Within minutes they find the ghost of the production crew assistant who died back in episode 6. This results in even more eye rolls and blood fodder, but at least we get a quick glimpse at Taissa Farmiga, who makes a last minute appearance this season.

Review: American Horror Story – Season 6; Episode 8: Wrapping up the Blood Bath

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

AHS’s strange combination of phone home-video and high-resolution security cameras starts this episode off with a new Cloverfield effect of dizziness. The constant frame switching doesn’t do Ryan Murphy and his writing team any favors as we get into the final three episodes of the season, but we all have to make due. It would seem that the Paranormal Activity style of storytelling is here to stay. Complete with lack of explanation about how certain cameras got where they are.

Review: American Horror Story Season Six; Episode 7: Convenient Camera Placement

Warning: Spoilers ahead

Return to Roanoke episode 2 begins with a three-way murder by evil Kathy Bates. In an effort to exact her revenge as a slighted actress, Bates slaughters the set assistant, camera guy, and the crazed producer who started this whole mess– played by Cheyenne Jackson. Seems like Jackson is left telling himself ‘oops’ as he is cut down by the evil Bates’ ax, after his choice last episode to publicly mock her and film it all.

Protip: never mock Kathy Bates!

While the double-cast of characters and re-enactors stumble around the house wondering where the dead Evan Peters is, we actually get a glimpse at why people love American Horror Story so much in the first place. A solo scene of Kathy Bates giving a monolog of split personality regret and madness. This is where Bates shines, strong, complex emotions that make you truly feel for a character. Even if they’re evil.

Review: American Horror Story: Season 6; Episode 6: What Could POSSIBLY Go Wrong?

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

After last week’s finale of “My Roanoke Nightmare” has led us into the new premiere of “Return to Roanoke!” As the story continues without double-cast of intrepid heroes, the TV-show frame narrative is now switching from a ghost-stories-haunting show to a reality TV reunion special. We’re told that, apparently, “My Roanoke Nightmare” did so well on airing that it beat out football games and Empire in ratings. Naturally, the producers start pitching a sequel to make even more money.

Review: American Horror Story: Season 6; Episode 5 – End of Episode 1?

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

While this is the fifth episode in season 6 of AHS, Ryan Murphy would have you thinking that it’s only the end of the first episode! With the wild back-and-forths in this week’s episode gave me whiplash, we did get some important developments, first of which is that we have finally spotted Evan Peters!

Review: American Horror Story: Season 6; Episode 3 – CROATOAN!

WARNING SPOILERS!

Remember how last time I mentioned that the countdown to ‘Croatoan?’ Well, your clocks can stop now, because last night on “My Roanoke Nightmare” we got several ear-fulls of the word.

I’m getting ahead of myself, though. Let’s begin where we last left off, with Angela Bassett’s daughter being missing after she kidnapped her child from school. Apparently, no one decided that would be a good thing to mention to the police because Episode 3 begins with a manhunt for little Flora and no shackles on Bassett. But don’t worry, her ex-husband, played by Charles Malik Whitfield, has his suspicions about it. He later is burned in a Blair Witch style effigy for his common sense. AHS can’t afford to have that kind of logic.

American Horror Story: Episode 2 (AKA: Jumping 3 Sharks at Once)

WARNING: Spoilers ahead

With the second episode freshly aired, there are a few things on my mind with this season of AHS. Like… Why do these people keep living in a house which is clearly either haunted or lined in hallucinogenic mushrooms? Where did that 24-hour cop-car go when the bloody butcher knife was stuck in the front door? And where the heck is Evan Peters and Lady Gaga?!
