Kallan gets the summons a day before Jim’s visit. The letter has the traditional wax seal of the council. It is written on thick paper making the letter feel incredibly heavy. Now that the council has allowed the duel, it is as good as being bound to it. There are few things that can cancel a duel.
To say that Lost was a big deal back in the day would be an understatement.
When the show kicked off in 2004, everyone was talking about it, trying to guess the twists and turns of J.J. Abrams’ island-set mystery.
The hallway leading from the offices to the council room is not a long one. Kallan is not sure if this is a good or bad thing. With her report in her hand, she pushes through the double doors. It is always disorienting going into the council room, no matter how many times she does it.
The sun turns the world from night into day. Colors turn from a cool gray-purple to a warm pink-orange of the beginning day. Kallan is valiant and trying not to drown in her tea or face plant into her breakfast. It is a waste of a meal if she did and mornings are never easy on Kallan.
Kallan parks her old moss-green car in the back lot of an old office building. Converted from offices to apartments, it still has that old world charm and character. She takes the elevator to the top floor and then a private stairwell to the rooftop apartment. The apartment is nestled in a large garden; lush and green with a myriad of plants, flowers, and trees. It is jarring compared to the city that surrounds it, as if displace from a land of rolling hills.
